So far, the bodies of several victims have been retrieved from this area.
Deputy for Search and Rescue Operations and Preparedness at the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Ribut Eko Suyatno said that on the first day of the second extension of the search, the sea search and rescue unit (SRU) team conducted a surface search in the south.
“The land SRU, coordinated by the Banyuwangi Police chief and the Banyuwangi Military District commander, is also conducting a search southward from Ketapang Port to Muncar Beach,” he informed at a press conference at Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi, East Java, on Saturday.
Basarnas’ primary SAR equipment includes helicopters, the KN SAR Permada and Arjuna ships and rigid inflatable boat (RIB) 03 Banyuwangi and RIB Denpasar Bali.

Meanwhile, the number of primary SAR equipment, including those belonging to the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), Indonesian National Police (Polri), Transportation Ministry, state-owned ferry and port operator PT ASDP, and local governments, totaled 30.
“Basarnas has 11 equipment, while the TNI, Polri, and local governments have 30 equipment. 548 personnel are involved in this SAR operation. This demonstrates the government’s maximum involvement in the search and evacuation,” Suyatno said.
The KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya, which was carrying 53 passengers, 12 crew members, and 22 vehicles, sank en route to Gilimanuk Port in Bali on July 2.
As of July 12, 2025, the Joint SAR Operations Post and SAR Potential at Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi, have recorded 30 survivors and 17 deaths in the tragedy. Meanwhile, 18 people are still missing.
