Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia has scored potential food and beverage deals worth US$2.22 million at the Manila Food and Beverage Expo (MAFBEX) 2025, which highlight the Philippines’s strong interest in Indonesian products.

In a written statement received in Jakarta on Saturday, Martin Pandapotan Hutabarat, trade attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in Manila, said that the potential transactions reflect the robust interest of the Philippines market in Indonesian food and beverage products, which can be tapped.

“This presents a promising export opportunity for Indonesian micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs),” he said.

The Indonesian Pavilion at the event showcased 10 companies, including eight MSMEs, offering a wide range of products such as coffee, tea, honey, chocolates, biscuits, healthy snacks, and processed goods like sorghum, flour, rice, and starch.

In addition to the potential deals, the participating MSMEs recorded US$1,445 in retail sales during the expo.

Over the past five years (2020–2024), Indonesia’s food and beverage exports to the Philippines have swelled by 18.34 percent, making them the third-largest Indonesian exports to the country.

Indonesia is also the second-largest exporter of coffee beans to the Philippines, after Vietnam.

In 2024, Indonesia exported US$43.48 million worth of coffee beans to the Philippines, while Vietnam led with US$153.92 million in exports.

Indonesia is also seeing strong potential in the Philippines’ health food market.

According to the Data Bridge Market Research 2022, the Philippines’ health and wellness food market is projected to grow rapidly from US$20.98 billion in 2024 to US$42.70 billion by 2032, with the compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) estimated to reach 12.03 percent between 2025 and 2032.

This positive outlook presents significant opportunities for Indonesian MSMEs producing health-focused products to expand their reach in international markets.
