Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Trade Dyah Roro Esti stated that her ministry is focusing on securing the domestic market, expanding export markets, and supporting the exports of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in 2026.

"The Ministry of Trade has three main priorities, and the first one is securing the domestic market," Esti remarked during a meeting with Commission VI of the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta on Monday.

The deputy minister elaborated that to secure the domestic market, efforts made include increasing interregional trade, optimizing trade infrastructure, facilitating product development and certification, and enhancing consumer empowerment.

Other measures involve trade supervision, providing certainty and ease of doing business, supporting the development of domestic products, and implementing trade protection measures.

Furthermore, to expand export markets for Indonesian products, the ministry is strengthening international trade diplomacy and improving export promotion and the dissemination of information.

"Amid uncertainties, these are some efforts that the Ministry of Trade made to open access to foreign markets, along with the ratification of several international trade agreements," she remarked.

Meanwhile, to support the exports of MSMEs, the ministry is enhancing the UMKM BISA Ekspor program, an initiative to help MSMEs enter export markets, by prioritizing design innovation and increasing the role of aggregators.

Recently, the Ministry of Trade proposed an additional budget of Rp886.63 billion (around US$54.4 million) to implement its programs and operations in 2026.

The proposed additional budget for next year will also be allocated to three main priorities: the domestic trade program, the foreign trade program, and the management support program.
