Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, Muhaimin Iskandar, has said that schools established under the Sekolah Rakyat program are using artificial intelligence-based talent mapping to identify students’ potential.

“This talent mapping allows us to learn each child’s potential and opportunities," he informed during a talent mapping session at Sekolah Rakyat Junior High School 10 in Bogor, West Java, on Monday.

After inspecting all the facilities provided at the school, Iskandar declared that the school is complete and ready to provide educational activities.

“The Ministry of Social Affairs has provided all dormitories, beds, rooms, a health center, a student council, a fully equipped laboratory, a library, classrooms, and most importantly, computerized educational modules,” he said.

Meanwhile, the head of the Sekolah Rakyat formation team, Mohammad Nuh, informed that AI is being used for talent mapping since it can identify students’ talents and potential in less than 10 minutes.

“We conduct three types of mapping: physical mapping, including health, psychosocial mapping, and academic mapping. From these mappings, we use them (results) as a baseline, and then we measure their progress in the educational process here,” he said.

“We will not only support them with character education, but also with life skills, so they have a wide range of competencies, including digital competencies to face the AI era,” Nuh added.

The Sekolah Rakyat program was initiated by President Prabowo Subianto to fulfill the educational needs of children from poor and extremely poor families, which are grouped under Deciles 1 and 2 in the National Socioeconomic Single Data (DTSEN) system.

The program is designed to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty, expand access to education, guarantee quality education for children from poor and extremely poor families, and ensure inclusive education for all children.

The schools, which use a boarding school model, provide free education from elementary to high school.

All students attend formal classes during the day and receive character education in the evenings. Religious values, leadership, and life skills are essential components of the curriculum.

The schools use a learning management system and provide digital learning modules to children in remote areas and other places that lack access to quality education.
