Indonesia was represented by Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya and Culture Minister Fadli Zon at the Strategic Cultural Dialogue, held at the invitation of French Culture Minister Rachida Dati, who previously visited Indonesia with President Emmanuel Macron in May.
“This meeting reflects our commitment to advancing the creative economy as a tool of cultural and economic diplomacy under President Prabowo Subianto’s administration,” Minister Harsya noted in a press release here on Friday.
He suggested that Indonesia and France should jointly develop an enabling ecosystem for the creative economy through concrete programs and translate the memorandum of understanding (MoU) inked during President Macron’s visit into actionable initiatives.
The MoU could serve as a basis for both nations to organize capacity-building activities, conduct talent exchanges, and carry out joint policy research, he added.
The minister also highlighted the importance of Indonesia taking a cue from France’s experience in formulating strong and inclusive policies and regulations for the creative economy.
During their visit to France, the Indonesian delegation also held discussions on three sub-sectors of the creative economy: film, animation, and gaming.
The officials visited the National Centre for Cinema and the Moving Image (CNC), where they exchanged views with the center’s president and experts.
These activities resulted in a commitment by Indonesia and France to conduct joint research on film industry policies, collaborate on developing talent in filmmaking and video games, and strengthen ties among creative industry players from both countries.
This agenda formed part of President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to France, during which he and President Macron observed the 2025 Bastille Day celebrations.
