Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid has underscored the vital role of the media in supporting the government’s priority programs, especially the People’s School (Sekolah Rakyat), by delivering accurate information to the public.

According to the minister, media professionals must gain a clear understanding of the Sekolah Rakyat initiative to ensure the accuracy and clarity of the information being disseminated.

“In the midst of rampant disinformation and hoaxes, the public must receive the right information. I also want to convey this message to our fellow media workers in Solo and across Central Java more broadly, to keep reporting the truth to the public,” Meutya noted in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Monday.

The statement was made during a media briefing titled "Breaking Barriers through Sekolah Rakyat" held at the National Press Monument in Surakarta on Sunday (July 20).

Meutya reaffirmed that the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) will continue serving as a bridge between the government and the media, especially in delivering updates on priority programs.

“Komdigi is providing this forum so that our friends in the media, especially those in Central Java, can hear directly from the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Social Affairs about the Sekolah Rakyat as one of the government's flagship programs under President Prabowo Subianto’s administration,” she explained.

She also emphasized the importance of the media in providing input and feedback on government programs.

“No program arrives in perfect form from the start. There will always be areas for improvement — and this is where the media plays its role in channeling public input and critique,” she added.

Meutya also stressed that the government remains open to all constructive feedback provided by the media.

The event was also attended by Director General of Public Communication and Media Fifi Aleyda Yahya, Director General of Digital Infrastructure Wayan Toni Supriyanto, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Social Affairs Robben Rico, and journalists from various media outlets across Central Java.
