The minister said that the Social Affairs Ministry has directly verified the data of the students.
“The Social Affairs Ministry has surveyed their homes. After receiving the data, the ministry’s team visited the homes, took a picture, counted, and calculated. So, it’s based on the facts of their home,” he said in Jakarta on Monday evening.
Earlier, Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf also assured that all students have met the enrolment criteria set by the government. First, they passed the administrative process, which requires them to be registered in Deciles 1 and 2 of the National Socioeconomic Single Data (DTSEN).
After that, he said, a committee visited the homes of prospective students to ensure the data matched with their actual condition. Next, the Social Affairs Ministry and local governments ensured that each registered individual was truly eligible to join Sekolah Rakyat.
And last, all the students underwent a medical test before they were accepted.
He said that the data validation was based on the mechanism and directives from President Prabowo Subianto. It aimed to ensure that those applying to Sekolah Rakyat came from economically disadvantaged, poor, and extremely poor families.
