Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto officially launched the logo for the 80th Indonesian Independence Day at the State Palace on Wednesday, following a selection process and competition, held from May 23 to June 1, 2025.

Several parties, including the Ministry of State Secretariat, the Ministry of Creative Economy, and the Indonesian Graphic Design Association (ADGI), were involved in the decision-making process.

The Independence Day logo, selected by President Prabowo, features a simple design showing the number “80” in red and white to symbolize the nation’s 80th anniversary.

The logo consists of two cylindrical forms set within the numbers 8 and 0. Taken together, they represent “two strong cores”: “unity” and “sovereignty.”

The bold, bright red outlines of the numbers 8 and 0 can be interpreted as a “manifestation of the people’s prosperity.”

The unbroken lines of numbers 8 and 0 are often taken to be symbols of infinity. Placed side by side, the two numbers represent the “complete form of Advanced Indonesia.”

Advanced Indonesia is the vision Indonesia aspires to achieve by its 100th anniversary in 2045.

The full version of the 80th anniversary logo incorporates the anniversary theme—“United Sovereignty, Prosperous People, Advanced Indonesia.”

These three mottos align with President Prabowo’s Asta Cita vision, which envisages Indonesia as a strong and sovereign nation, with a prosperous people, and capable of becoming a developed nation.

The official logo launched on Wednesday was selected through a competition from among 245 designs submitted by designers from the Indonesian Graphic Design Association.

Five entries were shortlisted and one was selected as the winning logo.

The jury considered several factors in selecting the winner, including the originality of the work and the strength of the visual narrative.

“We aimed to avoid similarities with previous designs. We were looking for something new and different. Each piece had a unique story and offered its own strengths. Congratulations, because to us, you are all winners,” the President’s special staff for the creative economy, Yovie Widiyanto, who was a member of the jury, told the finalists.
