Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar has praised the Smart Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) platform developed by his ministry, calling it a strategic tool for independent learning that has reached millions across the country.

"Happy 3rd anniversary to Smart MOOC. This is an extraordinary learning platform that reaches millions of participants every year from all regions of the country," he said in a video message from Jakarta on Thursday.

Smart MOOC is designed as a competency development platform for civil servants (Aparatur Sipil Negara/ASN) within the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Umar noted that the platform enables ASNs to study independently and flexibly, without being limited by time or location.

"Smart MOOC has proven to help ASNs in the ministry improve their capacity and competence — anytime and anywhere," he said.

He added that the platform reflects the ministry’s commitment to delivering high-quality public service and supports its Asta Protas (Eight Priority Programs) and its tagline, “Kemenag Berdampak” (Impactful Ministry of Religious Affairs).

"I appreciate the brilliant work of the entire team behind Smart MOOC. I hope this platform will continue to deliver real benefits and impact for the wider public," he said.

Smart MOOC was developed by the Ministry's Center for Human Resource Competency Development in Education and Religious Affairs. Since its launch three years ago, it has become a cornerstone of digital-era capacity building for the ministry’s civil servants.
