Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Public Works Ministry has established the Tri Banyu Arutala Task Force as a key pillar in the government’s efforts to overhaul Indonesia’s drinking water and sanitation systems in keeping with President Prabowo Subianto’s directives.

“Our hope is that all programs related to the development and management of water resources in Indonesia will run in a more harmonious, effective, and sustainable manner,” Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo noted in a statement cited in Jakarta on Saturday.

The Tri Banyu Arutala Task Force embodies the ministry’s commitment to improving access to drinking water and proper sanitation for all residents, as mandated by the president’s Asta Cita primary missions.

Furthermore, the task force is mandated to push for the optimal implementation of certain initiatives outlined in Presidential Regulation No. 12 of 2025 regarding the 2025–2029 Medium-Term National Development Plan (RPJMN).

Through this regulation, President Prabowo emphasized the need to establish a national agency designated as the supreme regulator for drinking water and sanitation matters.

The national agency is envisioned as the main state institution responsible for controlling fee-related policies, overseeing the quality of services, and ensuring fairness and transparency across the country.

In short, the agency will serve as a strategic means to address overlapping regulations concerning drinking water and sanitation.

Regarding the Tri Banyu Arutala Task Force, the government has tasked it to serve as a catalyst and facilitator that aligns the interests and functions of stakeholders across sectors.

Through a collaborative approach, the task force aims to forge strong synergy between the planned national agency and related state-owned enterprises, region-owned enterprises, institutions, and other stakeholders.

Through the task force, the Ministry of Public Works is determined to achieve the target of providing sufficient drinking water access to all Indonesian residents by 2029.
