“Our rice reserves managed by Bulog have reached the highest volume ever recorded in history,” she highlighted at a press conference on the outcomes of a meeting of the Committee for Financial System Stability in Jakarta on Monday.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, she said that the funds, sourced from the state budget, served as a non-permanent investment to strengthen food reserves and stabilize rice prices—ultimately boosting national food security.
The minister also underlined that the policy complemented the government’s deregulation efforts, which have led to the simplification of 145 regulations related to fertilizer distribution.
She added that these measures helped lift Indonesia’s rice production to 19.09 million tons between January and June 2025, up 13.2 percent compared to the same period last year.
“With this performance, the agriculture sector’s growth rate in the first quarter of 2025 reached 10.52 percent year-on-year,” the state treasurer said.
Earlier, Bulog confirmed that Indonesia’s rice reserves reached 4.2 million tons by mid-2025 — the highest level since the country’s independence.
Bulog president director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani said on July 24, 2025, that national stocks are projected to rise by another million tons in August during the mass harvest season.
“With this in mind, we can assure the public that rice supplies are sufficient, so there is nothing to worry about,” he added in Bandung, West Java.
He emphasized that the government and Bulog have been working on strategies to sustain food security, including expanding agricultural areas in key regions across the country.
Furthermore, he noted that the government has set three major targets: achieving food self-sufficiency soon, boosting food exports within the next two years, and transforming Indonesia into the world’s food barn in three years.
