Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim discussed several key issues during their meeting on Tuesday, including the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and bilateral relations, an official said.

“Today’s meeting, as part of the annual agenda, covered topics such as RCEP. Malaysia will host a leaders’ meeting on RCEP. Bilateral ties between the two countries were also on the table,” Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, said at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Hartarto noted that Malaysia is set to convene a summit of leaders from RCEP member countries.

RCEP is the world’s largest free trade agreement. It involves 15 Asia-Pacific nations, including 10 ASEAN member states and five major trading partners—Australia, China, Japan, South Korea, and New Zealand.

In addition to trade, the meeting covered bilateral cooperation and regional issues, including the border conflict between Cambodia and Thailand.

“Under Indonesia’s ASEAN chairmanship, the conflict between Cambodia and Thailand will also be discussed,” he said.

He added that both countries are expected to sign several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) in several sectors. The agreements include four MoUs covering land border arrangements as well as cooperation in the health, technology, and communication sectors.

“There are two additional sectors included in the MoUs,” he said.
