Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) on Wednesday announced the seizure of 561 kilograms of drugs from 136 drug traffickers during raids in different parts of Indonesia between June and July 2025.

The seized drugs comprise 337.3 kg of crystal meth, 219.8 kg of marijuana, 3,152 ecstasy pills, 3 kg of cocaine, 40 grams of synthetic marijuana, 3.2 kg of solid chemical substances, and 4.7 liters of liquid substances.

At a press briefing in Jakarta, head of the BNN, Commissioner General Marthinus Hukom, said that 7 of the 136 suspects involved in 84 drug cases are Malaysian, Brazilian, and South African nationals.

The suspects were apprehended during crackdowns in Aceh, North Sumatra, Riau Islands, West Sumatra, South Sumatra, Banten, Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, Bali, East Kalimantan, and West Kalimantan.

The BNN has shared details of the drug bust as it uses state budget funds to fight drug offenders and is therefore, accountable to the people, Hukom said.

The seizure of the illegal drugs with a street value of Rp852 billion has saved more than 1.4 million Indonesians from drug abuse and addiction, he added.

Indonesia remains a key target for international drug syndicates due to its large population and increasing number of drug users.

According to the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), the number of drug addicts in Indonesia has reached 3.3 million, while the economic impact of drug smuggling is pegged at Rp500 trillion.
