Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government confirmed that the Free Health Checkup (CKG) program, targeting 53.8 million students, will be rolled out on August 4, coinciding with the start of the new academic year.

Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin stated in an online press conference that since its launch in February 2025, some 16.4 million people have utilized the facility, with a daily participation rate of 280 thousand to 300 thousand.

Regarding the program's implementation in schools, he expected it to be carried out in 282 thousand educational institutions, from primary to high schools and their madrasa counterparts, as well as in People's School (Sekolah Rakyat).

He remarked that the checkups have been conducted at some 72 Sekolah Rakyat locations, involving around seven thousand students. The checkup results show many students have dental issues, vision problems, anemia, and also tuberculosis (TB), Sadikin elaborated.

The minister also highlighted that mental health screening is included in this program to address rampant mental health problems, such as depression and anxiety, among students.

Sadikin called for public support to help this program benefit 280 million Indonesians. The program's huge coverage makes CKG the most ambitious health program under President Prabowo Subianto, he noted.

Moreover, he praised healthcare personnel at 10 thousand public health centers (puskesmas) and some 60 thousand puskesmas assisting units (pustu) for their contributions to this program.

He noted that the program is a collaborative effort involving the Health Ministry, the Primary and Secondary Education Ministry, the Religious Affairs Ministry, the Home Affairs Ministry, and the President's Communication Office.

In the same statement, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Pratikno stated that the CKG for students represents the state's effort to build great human capital as the foundation of a great nation.

The program complements other initiatives aimed at that goal, such as Free Nutritious Meal (MBG), school revitalization, and digitalization of the learning process, he added.

"(CKG) is the most fundamental program to create great human resources, because without peak health, whether physical, mental, or moral, competence would not be (as impactful)," he noted.
