During a working visit to Airu Sub-district on Thursday, Wonda said the installation of satellite-based Starlink internet at the Airu Community Health Center (Puskesmas) has significantly improved healthcare services in the remote area.
"With internet access, remote areas like Airu are no longer left behind in terms of information. It breaks barriers and unites us in a faster and more efficient service system," he remarked.
Wonda explained that the Jayapura District Government is progressively widening internet networks via a digital connectivity program funded by Papua's Special Autonomy (Otsus) funds, prioritizing essential service facilities such as community health centers and schools.
"We want people in Airu and other remote areas to receive the same healthcare services as those in Sentani. With internet access, staff can retrieve patient data, process online referrals, and even consult with specialist doctors," he explained.
Naomi Leni Yabansabra, Head of the Airu Community Health Center, stated that limited communication has long been the greatest challenge in handling emergency patients and coordinating health programs.
"Now we can submit reports on time, consult on medical cases with the district, and this has truly transformed our services and provided great assistance," she highlighted.
She stated that with reliable internet, her team can also utilize applications for immunization reporting, pregnancy monitoring, and stunting tracking.
"Thank you to Jayapura District Head Yunus Wonda and Deputy Head Haris I. Yocku for their attention to healthcare workers in remote areas by providing internet access through the Jayapura District Communication and Information Office," she stated.
