In a written statement from Jakarta on Thursday, Deputy for Sports Industry Development at the Ministry, Raden Isnanta, emphasized the importance of the training as part of a more targeted and sustainable strategy for sports industry development.
"Sports tourism not only promotes a healthy lifestyle but also carries significant economic potential for local communities," Isnanta remarked.
“This training is part of Kemenpora’s strategic efforts to develop excellent human resources. Sports tourism builds a culture of healthy living while also generating real economic impact,” he remarked.
The training involves 60 participants, including destination managers, local tourism actors, sports communities, and youth fitness ambassadors. The curriculum covers destination management, risk mitigation, marketing strategies, and digital integration for tourism promotion.
Other key speakers include Brigadier General (Police) Raden Slamet Santosa, Special Advisor to the Minister on Inter-Institutional Affairs, and Dr. Yusup Suparman, Assistant Deputy for Professional Sports. Both highlighted legal aspects of financial governance and the challenges of professionalizing the sports sector.
As part of the program’s follow-up, participants are required to draft and submit a practical action plan in their respective regions. Training certificates will only be issued after the reports are submitted and evaluated.
Kemenpora is upbeat that this initiative would serve as a model for other regions to foster synergy between the sports, tourism, and creative economy sectors, supporting the development of a competitive national sports industry.
