N Penajam Paser, E Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Diaspora Network (IDN) is holding its 8th congress in Indonesia’s new capital, Nusantara, from July 30 to August 4, 2025, to put the spotlight on the nation’s culture and innovation.

“The cultural richness and innovation of Indonesian people are showcased to enliven the congress,” special staff at the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN), Troy Pantouw, said when asked about the congress in North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan, on Thursday.

The culture exhibition includes local culinary products and local superior products from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

A Nusantara Bazaar is also being held in the new capital area, which covers parts of North Penajam Paser and Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan.

Furthermore, Pantouw noted that Indonesia’s cultural richness is also reflected in the Nusantara Photo Exhibition, which features historical photographs on Indonesia’s fight for independence, which was supported by the Indonesian diaspora.

A fashion show and exhibition themed “Eco Fashion Nusantara,” showcasing the sustainable creations of Indonesian designers, is also on the agenda.

“The rich local traditions of Kalimantan are also showcased through the Nusantara Sumpit Festival, which features cultural attractions and menyumpit competition,” he informed.

In addition, the congress has brought the Indonesian diaspora together to share their ideas and experiences, as well as collaborate.

According to Pantouw, the meeting is being held to support the progress of the new capital’s development and the diaspora’s contribution to Indonesia in various fields.

He affirmed that the congress is a manifestation of the diaspora’s support for the development of Nusantara as an inclusive and sustainable global city, demonstrating the spirit of collaboration for future national progress.

He noted that the theme of the congress, “Together with the Diaspora, Realizing Nusantara Capital City as a Global City for All,” demonstrates support for the development of the capital as a green, modern, and environmentally friendly city of the future.
