Rio De Janeiro, Brasil (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto received a warm welcome from Indonesian Embassy officials and members of the Indonesian diaspora upon his arrival in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday.

A young Indonesian boy dressed in traditional Bugis attire approached President Prabowo and presented him with a flower as a gesture of welcome.

President Prabowo accepted the flower, shook the boy’s hand, and engaged him in a brief and warm conversation.

“What’s your name?” the President asked.

“Rasca,” the boy replied.

“Where does your father work?” asked the President.

“He works at the Indonesian Embassy in Brazil,” Rasca answered.

Isak Hatun, the chair of the Indonesian diaspora in Brazil, expressed his excitement about welcoming the President in person.

He said that while the number of Indonesians in Brazil is relatively small, their enthusiasm for representing Indonesia positively remains strong.

“We are very happy to welcome President Prabowo and his delegation. I had the chance to greet him. Although our Indonesian community in Brazil is not large, we are delighted that several of us could be here to welcome him,” he added after the reception.

Isak also got the opportunity to tell Prabowo about his family’s Maluku heritage and their life in Brazil. He said that the President responded warmly to his story.

“The President was pleased to hear about my background and about my parents, who once served as missionaries in Brazil for several years,” he added.

He also expressed the hope that the visit would strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

“I hope the visit to Brazil is successful, and we, as the Indonesian diaspora, will always serve as ambassadors to bring a good name to Indonesia here in Brazil,” he added.

Another Indonesian citizen, Tukini, also expressed joy at meeting President Prabowo again. She said that this time felt more special because she had the chance to shake his hand.

“This is actually my second time meeting the President. I’m happy I can share this experience with my family back home in Indonesia, especially those in Nganjuk. I’m really happy,” she added with a smile.

Tukini also extended a heartfelt message to Prabowo, wishing him continued good health and success in leading Indonesia toward progress.
