Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Fajar Riza Ul Haq emphasized the government's commitment to realizing violence-free schools through several of the ministry's priority programs.

"This is not just a matter of administrative regulations but also our moral and political courage to protect Indonesian children from violence," he stated in Jakarta on Thursday.

Haq explained that several priority programs include improving the Regulation of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Number 46 of 2023 to address gaps in violence and align it with real-world conditions; establishing a cross-ministry Violence Prevention and Handling Working Group (PPKSP) to ensure ongoing coordination and evaluation; and enhancing the capacity of the Violence Prevention and Handling Task Force and Team (TPPK) through technical training and regular mentoring.

In addition, other priority programs include developing a practical pocketbook as an implementation guide for schools, engaging civil society, psychologists, and legal personnel in victim recovery; conducting periodic monitoring and evaluation, especially for cases receiving broad public attention; and strengthening public communication and policy dissemination -- not only to school principals but also to teachers, parents, and the wider community.

Furthermore, he noted that the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education's efforts to prevent violence in schools also include strengthening the role and capacity of guidance and counseling teachers.

"Counseling is one approach to preventing violence and strengthening the current TPPK," he added.

He noted that the issuance of the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Regulation Number 11 of 2025 also helps support teachers involved in the TPPK by allowing them to replace their respective workloads through activities in the TPPK.

The regulation also regulates the role of homeroom teachers as companions to students, assisting them in both academic and non-academic matters.

"This regulation fulfills our commitment to strengthening the prevention and handling of violence in educational institutions," he remarked.
