Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's government, through the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), launched a collaborative initiative with its Australian counterpart called the Australia Indonesia Partnership for Justice 3 (AIPJ3) Program to strengthen the legal, justice, and security sectors.

AIPJ3 continues the existing strategic partnership between the two countries.

"This program is implemented collaboratively, involving state institutions, law enforcement officials, and civil society. We believe that only through cross-stakeholder cooperation, a sustainable transformation of Indonesia's legal system can be achieved," Deputy for Political, Legal, Defense, and Security Affairs at Bappenas, Bogat Widyatmoko, said as quoted in an official statement received here on Thursday.

The launch of AIPJ3 marks a new chapter in the joint effort to promote legal reform and expand access to justice for the Indonesian people, especially vulnerable groups.

AIPJ3 is designed to support the achievement of national development priorities as outlined in the 2025-2045 National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN) and the 2025-2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).

AIPJ3 focuses on strengthening access to justice, reforming legal institutions, protecting vulnerable groups, and promoting inclusive and accountable security sector governance.

Both countries are committed to sustaining the results achieved and promoting long-term impacts for a fairer and more resilient Indonesian legal system.

"Moving forward, we have established a secretariat within Bappenas to ensure coordination, monitoring, and accountable record-keeping across ministries and implementing agencies, enabling strategic collaboration to achieve inclusive and accountable legal system governance," he remarked.

Representing the Australian Government, Nicola Campion, Minister Counsellor for Political and Strategic Communication at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, stated that AIPJ3 reflects her long-term commitment to partnership with Indonesia and regional stability.

Campion explained that the program was designed flexibly to address the dynamic needs and emerging opportunities in the field.

"Currently, AIPJ3 is entering the initial implementation phase," she stated.
