“We believe that by protecting rhinos, we also help preserve the environment,” president director of Tanjung Lesung SEZ, Poernomo Siswoprasetijo, said in a statement released here on Friday.
The annual race, set to take place on September 28, 2025, will be held on Lalassa Beach in Tanjung Lesung SEZ, Banten, and seek to raise awareness about the endangered endemic species and commemorate World Rhino Day.
“This is not just about an endangered animal: it is about preserving natural heritage so it can be enjoyed by today’s and future generations. By participating in this event, individuals are contributing to the rhino conservation campaign,” Siswoprasetijo said.
Participants will run a five-kilometer route divided into two categories: general and student. The race will be open to both men and women runners.
The route will pass through two of Tanjung Lesung’s main beaches, Lalassa Beach and Bodur Beach—both known for their white sands and clear waters.
Siswoprasetijo said that the Rhino Eco Run is designed to be a family-friendly event, with a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
“We are also offering an experience. After the run, participants can enjoy quality time with their families while enjoying the beauty of Tanjung Lesung,” he added.
Top finishers will receive cash prizes totaling tens of millions of rupiah, along with door prizes.
Registration for the race will remain open until September 2, 2025, with fees ranging from Rp50 thousand to Rp140 thousand. The event also offers tourism packages, covering accommodation and transport. Tickets to the event are available online at rhinoecorun.etix.co.id.
