Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, urged students to keep preparing themselves to develop competitiveness and leadership qualities for the future.

"Independence can be defined as qualities such as skills and entrepreneurial ability, and the key to all of these is leadership," the minister remarked in Jakarta on Friday.

According to Iskandar, student organizations play a crucial role in cultivating students who are competitive, independent, and possess leadership qualities.

"Hence, we hope to continue working together so that bachelor's degree graduates become empowered and independent individuals," he remarked.

Iskandar remarked that students who graduate with competitiveness and leadership skills are needed to tackle global challenges.

"In the future, we hope to have better preparation to manage this great nation," he remarked.

The minister also commended the increased interest among young people in sports compared to previous generations.

He explained that the passion for sports aligns with the spirit of Presidential Instruction Number 8 of 2025, which mandates reducing public expenditures to alleviate poverty.

According to Iskandar, exercising regularly can reduce public healthcare costs while boosting productivity.

"We are grateful that young people's enthusiasm for sports is so much higher than in my generation, and the only way to avoid the burden of healthcare costs is through exercise," he remarked.
