Jakarta (ANTARA) - Foreign Minister Sugiono stated that the Indonesian government will soon send 10 thousand tons of rice aid to Palestine to help alleviate the humanitarian and food crises due to the ongoing Israeli blockade and aggression.

"We will also send our food assistance in the form of 10,000 tons of rice to Palestine soon," Sugiono stated during a rally for Palestine at the National Monument (Monas) on Sunday, as per a written statement.

He said the assistance reflected tangible actions from Indonesia to support the struggle of the Palestinian people that he described as "mandated by the constitution and the national commitment."

Indonesia has distributed over 4,400 tons of logistics and disbursed hundreds of billions of rupiahs to provide humanitarian assistance to Gaza, according to the minister.

Indonesia's unwavering support for Palestine is consistent with President Prabowo Subianto's commitment to making the Palestinian cause one of his government's agenda from day one, he said.

The president believed that Palestinian independence is part of the national struggle as the Indonesian nation rejected all forms of colonialism in the world. Therefore, Indonesia will continue advocating for the Palestinian cause at every opportunity.

"President Prabowo has reaffirmed Indonesia's stance (on Palestine) at ASEAN, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and other multilateral forums," Sugiono stated.

"My duty as a foreign minister is to translate this stance into real actions," he added.

Earlier in July, Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman stated that, per President Prabowo's instruction, Indonesia will provide 10 thousand tons of rice assistance to Palestine.

The delivery of the assistance will be subject to the Palestinian Embassy in Jakarta's discretion, and Indonesia is ready to dispatch the assistance at any time, according to Sulaiman.

Indonesia also prepared up to 20,000 hectares of farmland in the South Sumatra and Kalimantan regions to be jointly managed by Palestine to ensure their sustenance supply.
