"Violations at railway crossings remain one of the main causes of train-related accidents," KAI Daop 1 Jakarta spokesperson Ixfan Hendriwintoko stated on Monday.
In response, KAI has intensified its public safety awareness campaigns at high-risk areas throughout its Jakarta operational region. These efforts involve local communities, rail enthusiast groups, and relevant government agencies.
Ixfan expressed hope that these campaigns would raise public awareness about the dangers of ignoring crossing barriers.
One such campaign was held on Sunday (Aug. 3) along the railway section between Bojong Indah Station and Rawa Buaya Station, specifically at KM 8+2/3 on Jalan Bojong Indah Raya.
The event was attended by the KAI Daop 1 Jakarta public relations team and security officers from Bojong Indah Station, with active participation from three railfan communities: Jejak Railfans, Train Photograph, and the Young Railway Enthusiasts Movement (GMPKA).
Community members assisted in delivering key safety messages to road users at the crossing, including motorcyclists, car drivers, and pedestrians.
The campaign involved displaying warning banners, distributing safety stickers and souvenirs, and reminding road users not to cross when warning signals are active or when a train is approaching.
According to Ixfan, the initiative is part of KAI's ongoing efforts to engage the public in ensuring safer train operations, particularly at accident-prone locations.
"This campaign is not only about educating the public, but also a call for collaborative action -- because railway safety is a shared responsibility," he affirmed.
