The two fishermen, Anton Darman (44) and Fadil (19), were found alive and well at 9:20 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB) on Monday morning.
Ilham, the captain of state vessel (KN) SAR Yudhistira 22, informed that his team located the fishermen’s boat KM Rezki. Thereafter, the SAR team escorted the two fishermen on KN SAR Yudhistira 22 to the Panasahan pier in Painan, Pesisir Selatan Regency.
Both Anton and Fadil are residents of Pesisir Selatan. On August 1, they had set off on their boat from Sikakap Island in Mentawai Islands district and headed toward Carocok Beach in Pesisir Selatan. Another boat, KM Moji, was accompanying them.
The two vessels separated around 4:30 a.m. WIB on August 2 near Panyu and Karabak Islands. Shortly afterward, contact with the KM Rezki was lost. Anton and Fadil were then reported missing.
The incident occurred in the waters between Panyu and Karabak Islands in Pesisir Selatan Regency.
Initial search efforts conducted by two local fishing boats were unsuccessful. “After a search from Karabak Island towards Sikakap Island for a distance of 30 nautical miles, there were no results,” Ilham said.
A joint search involving multiple agencies on Monday morning finally led to the rescue of the two fishermen.
In addition to Basarnas personnel, the rescue team included officers from the Water and Air Police, the Indonesian Navy, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), as well as local fishermen and community members.
