Jakarta (ANTARA) - Directorate of Special Economic Crimes (Dittipideksus) of the Indonesian National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) detained three senior officials from a startup company eFishery in connection with alleged fraud and embezzlement.

Director of Special Economic Crimes at the National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency Brigadier General Helfi Assegaf identified the three individuals as former eFishery CEO Gibran Chuzaefah Amsi El Farizy, former eFishery Vice President Angga Hardian Raditya, and former eFishery Vice President of Aquaculture Financing Andri Yadi.

"Investigators from the Directorate of Special Economic Crimes at the National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency have detained them since Thursday (July 31)," he remarked in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Assegaf stated that the three suspects are believed to have jointly committed fraud and embezzlement by inflating investment values at PT eFishery.

"The total embezzled funds that we have initially been able to prove is Rp15 billion," he stated.

Assegaf revealed that the case was reported internally within eFishery.

However, he could not provide further details regarding the case as the investigation is ongoing.

"Because it is still in the process of being investigated, we are also conducting an audit of the financial statements and the use of the funds. Hopefully, this will develop further. We will provide further information," he remarked.

He also confirmed collaboration with the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) in analyzing this case.

The alleged manipulation of eFishery's financial statements came to light after a whistleblower reported the company's accounting practices.

An initial investigation by FTI Consulting found indications of falsified revenue of nearly US$600 million in the nine-month period ending September 2024.
