She was last seen in Singapore. According to the Directorate General of Immigration, Tan left Indonesia for Singapore on a Singapore Airlines flight.
Acting director general of immigration, Yuldi Yusman, said that Tan passed through immigration control at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten, at 3:05 p.m. WIB on May 13, 2025.
According to immigration records, as of 5:30 p.m. on July 17, she has not re-entered Indonesia.
Tan was placed under a travel ban at the request of the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) on June 4.
The AGO has named four suspects in the alleged corruption case tied to the ministry’s education digitalization program from 2019 to 2022.
The suspects include JT (Tan), who served as special staff to the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (2020–2024), and IBAM (Ibrahim Arief), former technology consultant at the ministry.
They further include SW (Sri Wahyuningsih), director of elementary schools and authorized budget user within the directorate for the 2020–2021 fiscal year, and MUL (Mulyatsyah), director of junior high schools and authorized budget user within the directorate for the 2020–2021 fiscal year.
The four have been accused of abusing their authority by issuing implementation guidelines that steered the ministry’s digitalization program toward specific products -- namely Chrome OS.
A 2019 trial run conducted by Kemendikbudristek’s Communication Center (Pustekom) involving one thousand Chromebooks found the devices to be ineffective.
Based on the trial results, the technical team initially recommended specifications in favor of the Windows operating system.
However, Kemendikbudristek, at that time, allegedly replaced the study with a new one that recommended the Chrome operating system.
In terms of the budget, the procurement project totaled about Rp9.982 trillion, with Rp3.582 trillion sourced from the Education Unit Fund (DSP) and about Rp6.399 trillion from the Special Allocation Fund (DAK).
The actions of the four suspects allegedly caused state losses to the tune of Rp1.9 trillion, the AGO informed.
Suspects SW and MUL were placed under 20-day detention at the Salemba Branch Detention Center on July 15.
Due to a chronic heart condition, Arief will be placed under city arrest. Authorities are still working to locate and apprehend Jurist Tan.
