Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has questioned former Tokopedia President Melissa Siska Juminto (MSJ) as a witness in an ongoing corruption investigation.

This case concerns Chromebook procurement at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) from 2019 to 2022

Head of the AGO's Legal Information Center, Harli Siregar, stated in Jakarta on Tuesday that Melissa was questioned regarding her role as the owner of PT Gojek Indonesia during the relevant period.

"On Monday (July 14), investigators from the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) questioned MSJ as the owner of PT Gojek Indonesia," Siregar confirmed.

In addition to Melissa, investigators also questioned Andre Soelistyo (AS), the former CEO of PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GoTo), as a witness. Siregar clarified that AS was questioned about his role as director of PT Aplikasi Karya Anak Bangsa in 2020.

Another witness examined was FHK, Senior Division Manager of PT Datascript.

Siregar explained that these witness examinations aim to strengthen and complete the case file for the ongoing investigation.

Earlier, on Tuesday (July 8), Jampidsus investigators had searched the GoTo office.

During the search, several pieces of evidence were seized, including documents, letters, and electronic devices, including flash drives.

This confiscated evidence is currently being verified and analyzed for further investigation.

The AGO is investigating alleged corruption in the procurement of Chromebooks at Kemendikbudristek over the 2019–2022 period.

Siregar revealed that investigators are examining allegations of collusion between multiple parties.

This suspected collusion involved the technical team being directed to produce a study that recommended the use of Chrome operating system-based laptops for educational technology procurement in 2020.

According to Siregar, the use of Chromebooks was not genuinely a necessity. This assertion is based on a 2019 trial conducted by Kemendikbudristek's Communication Center (Pustekom) involving one thousand Chromebooks, which concluded that the devices were ineffective.

Based on these trial results, the technical team initially recommended specifications compatible with the Windows operating system.

However, Kemendikbudristek at that time allegedly replaced this study with a new one that specifically recommended the Chrome operating system.

In terms of the budget, Siregar confirmed that the procurement project totaled about Rp9.982 trillion, with Rp3.582 trillion from the Education Unit Fund (DSP) and about Rp6.399 trillion from the Special Allocation Fund (DAK).
