Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto expressed pride and gratitude to government aides, regional leaders, and security personnel for working tirelessly to manage the impacts of floods and landslides across three provinces in Sumatra.

"Thank you, I am very proud of your dedication. Thank you," he said during a limited meeting on disaster response in Aceh on Sunday night.

Addressing governors, district heads, and central government officials, Prabowo said the state has mobilized all its resources to push recovery efforts after disasters struck multiple districts and cities in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra in late November.

He noted that soldiers and responders have been on the ground for days without pause, underscoring his appreciation for their extraordinary emergency work.

Prabowo stressed Indonesia's resilience in the face of severe challenges and highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration in the ongoing response.

He called for strengthening aid distribution to ensure survivors receive timely access to essential items, including food, medicine, and clothing.

"It is vital to make sure that all necessary goods reach those in need," he said.

Prabowo also warned state apparatus not to exploit the emergency for personal gain.

"There should be no misappropriation or corruption within government institutions. I repeat, do not seek profits amid the people's hardship," he stated.

He urged police, regional governments, ministries, and state agencies to intensify oversight of disaster-relief projects and distribution chains to prevent pricing or stock manipulation.

Prabowo said he will continue conducting field inspections to directly assess people's needs and prayed for strength for the Indonesian nation as it confronts the ongoing crisis.
