Jakarta (ANTARA) -

Peruvian President Dina Boluarte will conduct a state visit to Indonesia on August 11, 2025, according to Foreign Minister Sugiono.

Responding to journalists' queries regarding the planned visit, the minister said preparations for the state visit are ongoing.

"According to the latest information conveyed by the Peruvian ambassador during our last meeting, preparations for the visit are progressing," Sugiono stated at the Foreign Ministry Office here on Tuesday.

He also confirmed that President Boluarte has already received approval from the Peruvian parliament for her visit.

President Boluarte's scheduled visit to Indonesia this month follows President Prabowo Subianto's trip to Lima in November 2024.

During the November visit, Prabowo and Boluarte held a bilateral meeting to discuss strategies to strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas ranging from a comprehensive economic partnership agreement to combating drugs.

The two leaders also witnessed the signing of a bilateral agreement on a visa-free arrangement for holders of diplomatic and service passports by Foreign Minister Sugiono and Peruvian Foreign Minister Elmer Schialer Salcedo.

On the same occasion, President Prabowo was awarded the Grand Collar of the Order of the Sun of Peru (Orden El Sol del Peru) by President Boluarte. The honor is given to Peruvian or foreign nationals who have made significant contributions in fields such as politics, arts, culture, and others.

The Peruvian news agency Andina reported that the Peruvian Congress approved President Boluarte's visit to Indonesia during its plenary session on August 1, as part of the commemoration of 50 years of Indonesia-Peru relations.

In addition to Indonesia, the Congress also authorized Boluarte to visit Japan as part of her Asia tour, where she is expected to meet Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, as well as attend the "Peru Day" event at the Osaka Expo 2025.

According to the news agency, the Peruvian leader's visits to Japan and Indonesia are scheduled from August 5 to 12, 2025.
