“I expressed my gratitude to our economic team. I thank you for your good performance in the team,” he said while mentioning the ministers one by one during the Cabinet’s plenary meeting at the Presidential Palace Complex on Wednesday.
The ministers also included Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Trade Minister Budi Santoso, Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani, and National Economic Council chair Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.
Prabowo also commended Foreign Minister Sugiono for his active diplomacy, especially when US President Donald Trump announced his initial 32-percent tariff on Indonesia in April 2025.
Following negotiations, the US President announced that Indonesia’s tariff will be reduced to 19 percent on July 16, 2025.
“We are moving as a team. We negotiate, we are not emotional nor provoked. We understand that we have a greater interest in working for,” he said.
“The duty of the government of Indonesia is to protect the Indonesian people, to protect their workers along with their families,” he added.
Prabowo emphasized the need to maintain teamwork among ministers in the Red and White Cabinet -- which he said he believes is growing stronger -- to carry out the government’s priority agenda.
President Prabowo, along with Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, presided over the plenary Cabinet meeting -- his third since his inauguration as President in October last year.
After delivering his opening remarks, Prabowo instructed his ministers, especially those leading task forces or cross-ministerial programs, to present their reports.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya moderated the ministerial reports, starting with Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, who reported on the 2026 State Budget drafting. However, the reports were conveyed behind closed doors.
