Samarinda, E Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Population and Family Development has said that its institutional transformation is aimed at strengthening family-based development since the improvement of human resource potential begins with the family.

“A family-based approach is important due to several factors, among others, because human development efforts have so far been too centralized in non-family sectors,” secretary of the ministry, Budi Setiyono, said here on Friday.

Other reasons include families not being positioned as the main units in development planning and lack of coordination mechanisms across ministries or agencies to strengthen family functions, he informed.

Some family data is also fragmented, and interventions are still unclear, he added.

“This also includes the limited presence of social and digital innovations to strengthen families, particularly in shielding them from the negative impacts of digital content,” he emphasized.

The ministry’s transformation steps, he said, have been outlined in the 2025–2029 Population Development Roadmap, which aims to create an integrated and sustainable human development ecosystem.

This human development ecosystem will put families at the center of policy to address demographic challenges to achieving the Golden Indonesia vision, under which Indonesia is aiming to become an advanced country by 2045.

The road map is divided into three phases, with the first beginning in 2025 and comprising the integration of family microdata or One Family One Data based on Identification Numbers (NIKs) linked to social welfare integrated data (DTKS) and other databases.

Actions in the road map include synchronizing family development policies through strategic coordination and the launch of social and digital innovations as part of the government’s Quick Win programs.

The ministry is also expanding Family Planning Villages (Kampung KB) and strengthening multi-stakeholder collaboration involving the government, private sector, academia, community, and the media.
