“I will also inaugurate this soon. We will have a subsidized housing residents’ association,” he confirmed in Jakarta on Friday.
Currently, there are business and developer associations in the housing sector, but consumers do not yet have a formal forum or association to voice their aspirations in the housing sector.
“So that it is clear who is communicating with whom,” he said.
With the association, dialogue will be easier, and the government can also maintain a balance between the needs of consumers and business actors in the housing sector.
“There will be a channel for aspirations. We, as the government, also create a balance between consumers, or people, and entrepreneurs and developers. This way, we create a healthy housing ecosystem,” he said.
Minister Sirait said that developers should be responsible for the quality of the subsidized housing they build.
To ensure this, the Ministry of PKP will continue to conduct field monitoring of each subsidized housing complex.
According to Sirait, developers should be responsible for repairing existing facilities and infrastructure if any damage disrupts the comfort of residents.
He will strive to implement President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to advance the 3 Million Homes Program by promoting good quality and targeted subsidized housing.
He urged low-income citizens to fully utilize the subsidized mortgage program for low-income individuals (KPR Sejahtera) under the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP) to purchase their first home.
Seventy-five percent of the funding for the FLPP mortgage scheme will be sourced from the state budget and 25 percent from the banking sector.
The government is committed to improving the quality of subsidized housing so that people can live in a comfortable and livable environment.
