In a statement issued in Jakarta on Tuesday, Manpower Minister Yassierli stressed that the Sekolah Rakyat program perfectly aligns with President Prabowo Subianto's goal of building a brighter future for the nation by enhancing the quality of human resources.
To that end, the ministry has prepared 59 BLKs for the program, with 35 of them soon to be converted into people's schools, including the Vocational and Productivity Training Center (BPVP) in Banyuwangi, East Java.
"The remaining 24 training centers are still undergoing evaluation to assess their feasibility as Sekolah Rakyat sites," Yassierli explained.
Regarding the Banyuwangi BPVP, the minister noted that it is projected to accommodate four study groups—two at the elementary school level and two at the senior high school level.
The school will operate in a three-story BPVP building, with the ground floor hosting a front desk, library, computer and science laboratories, classrooms, teacher and staff rooms, headmaster's office, school clinic, recreational area, meeting room, and warehouse.
Dormitories for boys and girls from both educational levels are located on the next floor, which also houses a kitchen and dining room. Meanwhile, the top floor is reserved for staff dormitories.
"The Banyuwangi BPVP has two classrooms each for elementary and senior high school students," Yassierli remarked, noting that senior high school pupils will also benefit from vocational training provided at the center.
He also noted that the school, intended for children from economically disadvantaged families, is equipped with a tennis court.
Regarding admissions, the minister stated that the process would be handled by the Ministry of Social Affairs and its local offices.
