Penajam Paser Utara (ANTARA) - The Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority announced that the People's School (SR) program is now running in eight elementary schools near IKN, located in parts of North Penajam Paser and Kutai Kartanegara districts, East Kalimantan.

"Education is a strategic key to breaking the cycle of poverty in the capital city area," IKN Authority spokesperson, Troy Pantouw, stated when asked about education in Sepaku, North Penajam Paser, on Monday.

The IKN Authority supports the development of the People's School as an effort to nurture a young generation that is intelligent, confident, and globally competitive.

"The People's School program has currently been implemented in eight elementary schools around the capital city," he remarked.

Recent evaluation showed positive results, with students' literacy skills increasing by 30-40 percent, further strengthened by English language learning through the Hi5 Club.

Pantouw explained that the Hi5 Club is held every Friday, featuring interactive conversations to expand vocabulary and build students' self-confidence.

The IKN Authority, along with the Tanoto Foundation, is preparing an assessment to expand the program's scope to schools in clusters two and three, so that the benefits of IKN's development reach more of the community, especially in the education sector.

The IKN Authority is inviting all parties, including local governments, educational institutions, and the private sector, to collaborate in building quality schools in the IKN area.

The spokesperson noted that educational transformation not only shapes students' character and skills but also brings sustainable social, economic, and cultural impacts to the surrounding community.

The People's School program, initiated by President Prabowo Subianto, is designed to open access to quality education for children from various backgrounds, especially those in need of additional support.

Pantouw affirmed that transformation is not just about building infrastructure but also about developing a future generation that is capable, inclusive, and ready to compete globally.
