The People's School program was mandated under Presidential Instruction No. 8 of 2025 concerning the Optimization of Efforts to Alleviate Poverty and Eliminate Extreme Poverty.
This initiative is part of the government’s affirmative policy to honor underprivileged and low-income families while expanding access to quality education for children from the lowest economic groups.
The People's School curriculum is built on three core pillars: Character and Dormitory Curriculum developed by the Ministry of Social Affairs, Formal Curriculum by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, and Religious Education Curriculum by the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The schools currently provide education at primary (SD), junior high (SMP), and senior high (SMA) levels.
All education costs, accommodation, and students’ basic needs are fully covered by the state.
Nindya Karya is a state-owned enterprise (BUMN) engaged in construction and has been entrusted with various government infrastructure projects, including People's Schools and government buildings in the new capital city, Nusantara.
