Padang (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has called on teachers at Sekolah Rakyat (People’s School) in West Sumatra to work with sincerity in meeting students’ needs, particularly in their education.

"The vice president reminded us that this is a noble profession, and everyone must work with heart," Nuryadi, Head of the Center for Social Welfare Education and Training (BBPPKS) under the Ministry of Social Affairs, stated in Padang on Wednesday.

Nuryadi made the statement following the vice president’s working visit to BBPPKS, where he observed the teaching and learning activities at Sekolah Rakyat Menengah Pertama 4 Padang, located in the ministry-run facility.

During his visit, Vice President Gibran emphasized the importance of implementing the Sekolah Rakyat initiative properly and called for strong support from all levels of government, from the national to the local level. On the occasion, he also handed out new shoes and socks to the students.

He further urged local leaders and stakeholders, especially regional heads, to actively monitor the conditions of Sekolah Rakyat campuses and address any shortcomings. The same message was also directed at BBPPKS staff and administrators.

"BBPPKS, along with the provincial and municipal governments, continues to work hand in hand to ensure the success of President Prabowo Subianto’s programs," Nuryadi remarked.

He remarked that in the near future, the central government will send additional supplies to meet the remaining needs of Sekolah Rakyat in the province, known as Ranah Minang. All supplies will be provided free of charge to the students.

Nuryadi noted that the Sekolah Rakyat program is a major initiative contributing to the broader goal of achieving Indonesia Emas (Golden Indonesia) by 2045. As such, its successful implementation requires support from all parties — especially parents and the wider community.
