“There is no problem because the number of teachers at the Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education is very large,” he said at the Gelora Bung Karno area here on Wednesday.
According to the minister, the number of teachers who have completed the Teacher Professional Education (PPG) program is considerable. Therefore, he said he is not concerned about the availability of teachers for the program, which targets children from disadvantaged families.
“Those who have completed PPG are in ample supply; so, God willing, we will never run out of teachers for Sekolah Rakyat,” Iskandar added.
Earlier, Minister of Social Affairs, Saifullah Yusuf, said that more than 50 thousand teachers are ready to replace those who have resigned from their Sekolah Rakyat posts.
“Many are ready to step in, as there are over 50 thousand teachers who have completed the PPG process but have not yet been placed,” he informed on Tuesday.
He said that, as per the latest data, at least 140 out of 1,500 Sekolah Rakyat teachers have quit after completing the selection and placement process, citing the travel distance between their assigned schools and their homes.
The minister informed that their replacements have been prepared from the pool of teachers who have yet to be assigned.
“So, God willing, we respect those who have resigned, as most of them have reasons of long distances from their residence,” he added.
