Jakarta (ANTARA) - Manpower Minister Yassierli reiterated his zero-tolerance stance on corruption in his ministry following the earlier arrest of his deputy, Immanuel Ebenezer, for alleged corruption on Thursday.

"As instructed by President Prabowo, there must be no tolerance towards corrupt actions," Yassierli stated in the press conference at the ministry's office here.

The minister said that he had instructed his officials to sign an "integrity pact" to ensure clean administration in the ministry, and they must be "ready to be removed from office once committing corruption."

Regarding plans of a shake-up at the Directorate General of Occupational Health and Safety Monitoring, implicated in the corruption case involving the deputy minister, Yassierli emphasized that every decision must be based on facts and evidence.

"I assure you that once the evidence is verified, there will be zero tolerance," the minister said as he urged all parties to uphold the presumption of innocence.

Yassierli also confirmed his readiness to remove ministry officials involved in the corruption case that the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is probing.

Indonesia's anti-graft body has arrested Deputy Manpower Minister Immanuel Ebenezer on suspicion of extorting companies in the workplace safety certification process.

KPK Deputy Chair Fitroh Rohcahyanto said on Thursday that Ebenezer was suspected of demanding payments from several companies seeking certification.

Ten other individuals were arrested along with the deputy minister. The KPK has 24 hours to determine its legal status, Rohcahyanto added.

According to State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, President Prabowo Subianto was "disappointed" by Ebenezer's arrest amid the government's anti-corruption crusade.

Nonetheless, the President respects the KPK's procedures and welcomes the legal process to be carried out as it should be, Hadi stated.

On Thursday afternoon, KPK revealed that 21 vehicles, comprising 15 cars and 6 motorcycles, had been confiscated by the agency in relation to Ebenezer's extortion case.
