"The President emphasized the importance of integrity and competence. So, not all employees will be immediately transferred. There will be a selection process that takes into account track records and integrity," said Simanjuntak, here on Saturday.
He explained that the existing structures under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, such as the Head of Hajj Division at the provincial and district levels, will be transferred to the new structure at the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
In addition, the Integrated Hajj and Umrah Service Center (PLHUT) building in each district/city will become the regional office of the Ministry of Hajj.
"This is actually just a kind of reshuffle. Structures like the Head of Hajj Division at the Ministry of Religious Affairs will be moved to the Ministry of Hajj," he said.
Simanjuntak also mentioned that the Hajj dormitories already available in various regions will function as part of the ministry's infrastructure, including as offices for the Head of Hajj Regional Office.
"We already have adequate assets. The PLHUT and Hajj dormitory will serve as the basis for regional services," he said.
The change in the nomenclature of the BP Haji to the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah was mentioned as part of President Prabowo Subianto's vision since his candidacy in the 2014 Presidential Election.
"Since 2014, Mr. Prabowo has had a vision of establishing a Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. This has been consistent through the 2019 and 2024 presidential elections," said Simanjuntak.
He said the next step after determining the nomenclature is to wait for the issuance of a Presidential Regulation (Perpres) that will regulate the organizational structure and work procedures, as well as the institutions of the new ministry.
"After the law is passed, the next step is to draft a Presidential Regulation. This Presidential Regulation will further regulate the institutional and structure of the ministry," said Simanjuntak.
