“This designation is good news to address the growing demand for halal supervisors in Indonesia,” said Head of UNP Halal Center UPT, Miftahul Khair, in Padang on Sunday.
The designation refers to the Decree of the Head of BPJPH of the Republic of Indonesia Number 195 of 2025, effective since August 19, 2025.
It was the result of an application submitted by UNP’s Halal Studies Center on April 14, 2024.
A team from the Directorate of Halal Product Assurance Development at BPJPH carried out document reviews and direct verification at the site.
The evaluation results showed that UNP met all the requirements to organize training for halal auditors and supervisors.
Khair explained that the rising need is in line with the surge in applications for regular halal certification through Halal Inspection Bodies (LPH), which universities such as UNP are also authorized to conduct.
“Currently, the high demand for halal supervisors coincides with the increase in requests for regular halal certificates through LPH, and this can be handled by UNP,” he said.
He further noted that training at UNP’s Halal Center in West Sumatra Province will also help meet the demand for halal-competent workers abroad, particularly in the hospitality and restaurant sectors.
As an institution officially designated by BPJPH, UNP’s Halal Center is required to consistently meet established standards and carry out training in accordance with existing regulations. BPJPH will periodically evaluate its performance.
He added that the training program will be implemented under a cooperation agreement to be signed between the Head of BPJPH and the head of the training institution.
Meanwhile, the Halal Product Assurance Training Division at UNP’s Halal Center will be led by Adnan Arafani, who will be responsible for designing various halal training programs in coordination with the UNP Academy.
