Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Cooperatives Ministry has intensified collaboration with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) to advance the Red and White Village Cooperatives program by leveraging digital technology.

To this end, Cooperatives Minister Budi Arie Setiadi hosted Komdigi Ministry officials in a meeting held in Jakarta on Tuesday (August 26).

As quoted in a press release here on Wednesday, the minister underlined that both ministries are aligned in pursuing the program's optimal implementation through digitization, notably by utilizing the Village Cooperatives Information System microsite, or Si Kopdes.

"Our collaboration is aimed at digitizing cooperatives in Indonesia, especially by strengthening the digital ecosystem for the operations of Red and White Village Cooperatives," Setiadi noted.

He elaborated that the two ministries would focus their cooperation on five areas: network connectivity, data centers, platform applications, public communication on the program, and developing human resources with reliable digital skills through a training initiative.

Information on the training would be accessible via the Si Kopdes platform, he added.

Meanwhile, Secretary-General of Komdigi Ministry, Ismail, reaffirmed his office's commitment to providing the digital infrastructure required for the program.

He said that Komdigi has been prioritizing improvements to digital infrastructure in Indonesia's underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions.

"We have a program dedicated to covering 3T regions," Ismail stated, adding that the ministry is determined to enhance digital connectivity in areas not yet served by commercial services.

He further said the ministry would optimize 27,800 satellite-powered internet access points nationwide to reach citizens in secluded areas.

President Prabowo Subianto launched around 80 thousand Red and White Village Cooperatives in Klaten, Central Java, on July 21, designating them as one-stop hubs for essential services and goods to empower rural residents economically.

However, not all the cooperatives have begun full operations. The government has designated several as pilot models for the program's initial phase. The short-term target is to make at least 15 thousand cooperatives operational by the end of August 2025.
