This was conveyed by the minister at the 2025 National Coordination Meeting on Regional Legal Instruments in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, on Wednesday, according to a statement.
He emphasized the importance of increasing regional revenue as it can strengthen the region's fiscal capacity. In this regard, regions are urged to be open to the aspirations of business players and creative economy players to provide more efficient and effective licensing services.
He also underscored that the operations of the private sector in regions will contribute to job creation and encourage the circulation of money in the community.
On that occasion, he outlined several aspects needed to boost the private sector, among other things, leadership. Leaders in regions are urged not to rely only on the bureaucratic aspects but also on creativity, especially in making strategies to increase regional revenue.
He further reminded regional governments to consider the conditions of the community in creating policies because, if those policies are considered unsuitable, they will trigger resistance from the community.
Karnavian also highlighted the importance of regional leaders having entrepreneurship skills, encouraging them to be able to identify opportunities to generate profit, which can increase the regional revenue.
To optimize the business and creative economy sectors, he noted that regional governments can collaborate with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).
On the same occasion, the minister stressed that it is crucial for regional governments to create policies that support the public interests, thereby asking them not to take shortcuts that burden the community in increasing the regional revenue.
