"The number of cases successfully solved was 235, with the arrest of 259 suspects," the Director of the Cyber Crime Directorate, Brigadier General Himawan Bayu Aji, informed in a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.
According to him, hundreds of suspects comprised various roles: 14 organizers, 11 assistants, three administrators, 14 operators, one collector, four telemarketers, 12 endorsers, and 200 players.
In addition to law enforcement, the Online Gambling Eradication Desk has also carried out preemptive and preventive measures, Aji remarked.
The preemptive activities implemented included the publication of public service announcements, flyers, and digital literacy outreach activities.
He informed that his desk had produced three public service announcements to be shown in cinemas.
"We collaborated with XXI Cinemas to screen the public service announcement in 92 cinemas across Indonesia before the film began. The three public service announcements were shown from June 21, 2025, to July 2025," Aji explained.
Furthermore, the police also monitored and submitted requests for blocking of online gambling sites and content to the Ministry of Communication and Digital.
"The number of online gambling sites and content submitted for blocking from May 2025 to August 26, 2025, was 93,012," he said.
The Online Gambling Eradication Desk was established by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan on November 4, 2024.
The desk involves 22 ministries/institutions, including the National Police.
Gunawan said the Desk prioritized three steps to monitor online gambling, by cooperating with technology platforms and internet service providers to systematically block access to online gambling sites), trace the flow of money used in online gambling transaction, and intensify the dissemination of information on the dangers posed by online gambling.
