If there are problems, resolve them through deliberation in accordance with the law,Bogor, West Java (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has ordered National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto to take firm action against anarchic acts in several regions.
“The TNI and the police are being asked to act firmly in accordance with the law against anarchic acts,” Listyo said on Saturday.
He noted that in the past two days, protests in several regions have escalated into riots, with buildings and public facilities set on fire and even police headquarters attacked.
“Such situations can no longer be considered expressions of aspiration, but rather criminal acts,” he emphasized.

Listyo said the police and TNI would immediately act to restore public order.
“We have received reports of public unrest. Therefore, the authorities will immediately work to stabilize the situation,” he stated, stressing that law enforcement measures would be applied in a measured manner.
“This is in the interest of the wider community and to maintain national stability,” he added.
Meanwhile, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto reminded the public not to be provoked by calls that could endanger themselves or others.

On Friday, protests spread across several cities—including Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Solo, and Makassar—targeting regional police offices and Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) buildings.
The unrest was triggered by the death of ride-hailing motorcycle driver Affan Kurniawan, who was run over by a Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) tactical vehicle on Thursday (August 28) in Pejompongan, Central Jakarta.
The clash in Pejompongan broke out after demonstrators near the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, were pushed back by police.
