NTB DPRD Speaker Baiq Isvie Rupaeda confirmed that nothing could be saved from the fire and looting.
“Nothing can be saved. Everything is completely destroyed and gone,” she said in Mataram on Sunday.
Although the entire building was gutted and looted, Rupaeda said she could not yet estimate the total losses of all assets, documents, and facilities belonging to the provincial government.
“We do not have the numbers yet because the building and its assets are under the ownership of the provincial government,” she explained.
Despite losing its office, she emphasized that the council’s duties and functions will continue as usual.
“The DPRD’s work must go on. We need an office, we need a secretariat, even a small one, to carry out our responsibilities. God willing, everything will proceed well,” said the legislator representing East Lombok District.
To ensure operations, she said the council leadership and members will temporarily work from an emergency tent set up in the DPRD courtyard.
“For the secretariat, we will use tents, while for plenary sessions we will borrow the Sangkareang Hall at the NTB Governor’s Office. For daily routine, we will continue working using the tents for now,” she added.
The protest, which escalated into arson and looting, involved thousands of demonstrators at the DPRD complex on Saturday.
Two buildings were set on fire: the main council chamber used for daily meetings and plenary sessions, and the secretariat building used by staff and civil servants.
Large parts of the complex were left in ruins after being ransacked, vandalized, and burned during the unrest.
