Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka held a dialogue with representatives of online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Sunday afternoon.

According to Antara, VP Gibran met with at least eight ojol drivers from various online transportation companies, including GoJek, Grab, Maxim, and Indrive.

In videos from the event, Gibran, wearing a brown-and-yellow batik shirt, spoke with the drivers around a round table.

The drivers, dressed in their respective uniforms, enjoyed snacks and drinks while conversing with the Vice President.

Gibran was seen nodding his head while attentively listening to the discussions of the ojol drivers, who were generally middle-aged.

The former mayor of Solo was also seen reading a piece of paper handed to him by one of the ojol drivers.

The meeting lasted for at least an hour. It is hoped that this meeting will help President Prabowo Subianto calm the current situation by listening to the public's aspirations.

On the same day, President Prabowo and eight political party leaders issued a joint statement regarding recent demonstrations in Jakarta and several other regions.

In his speech at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Sunday, the Head of State conveyed a number of shared views, ranging from imposing strict sanctions on legislators involved to calling for joint efforts to maintain national security.

"The National Police are currently investigating officers who committed errors or violations yesterday. I have requested that this be done quickly, transparently, and openly for the public to follow," he said.

In his official statement, the Head was accompanied by the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri, Chairman of the MPR Ahmad Muzani, Chairman of the DPR RI Puan Maharani, and Chairman of the DPD RI Sultan Najamudin.

Also present were a number of political party leaders, including Deputy Chairman of the Democrats Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono, Secretary General of PKS Muhammad Khalid, Chairman of the Golkar Party Bahlil Lahadalia, Chairman of the PKB Muhaimin Iskandar, Chairman of PAN Zulkifli Hasan, and Chairman of the NasDem Party Surya Paloh.
