Probolinggo District Head Mohammad Haris was among the key figures at the international gathering on Culture, Heritage, Arts, Narratives, Diplomacy, and Innovations, which brought together cultural leaders, scholars, and local officials.
“Local culture is Indonesia’s face to the world. The values of our villages can inspire globally,” Haris said in a statement on Saturday.
Haris introduced Probolinggo’s diverse traditions, including the Yadnya Kasada ceremony and rituals of the Tengger community living on the slopes of Mount Bromo.
He said his participation aimed to promote the district’s cultural wealth internationally and to build partnerships in tourism and the creative economy.
“Culture is not just heritage; it’s a strategic asset to solve global challenges—from creative economy growth to strengthening diplomacy. Local traditions can be bridges between Indonesia and the world,” he noted.
