Hasan, in a statement here on Sunday, noted that the guidance is enhanced as a form of support from the government to facilitate business players in the halal certification process.
Apart from that, he noted that the guidance is also expected to help the community and relevant stakeholders, including academicians from various universities, to participate in halal product assurance implementation.
He assessed that universities, with the human resources that they have, can play a key role in strengthening halal product assurance, among others, by establishing a halal inspection agency and a halal product process assistance agency.
Furthermore, he assessed that universities also have potential in preparing human resources for the halal sector, for instance, halal auditors and experts.
"Currently, the potential of the global halal market continues to grow and develop with very promising economic value," he remarked.
To this end, the BPJPH recently held the "Halal Goes to Campus" event to provide education and guidance on halal product assurance, which has been held at Brawijaya University of Malang and Islamic State University of Malang, East Java, among other locations.
The activity included the dissemination of information on halal product assurance regulations and policies on halal certification obligation, as well as optimization of the role and opportunities of university students in halal product assurance implementation.
The event was attended by hundreds of students from various faculties of the two universities.
According to a member of the Board of Experts of Brawijaya University's Halal Inspection Agency, Sucipto, jobs in the halal sector are prestigious and are in high demand because the number of professionals is still very limited, thereby providing opportunities for students after they graduate.
