"We just convened a meeting with the president discussing matters regarding our natural resource reserves, such as coal, bauxite, nickel, tin, and other minerals. He ordered us to apply the JORC Code on these reserves," Lahadalia told reporters at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta.
First introduced in Australia in 1989, the JORC Code sets minimum standards for estimating, classifying, and publicly reporting mineral exploration results, mineral resources, and ore reserves. It has since become a global reference and has undergone several revisions.
Lahadalia described Prabowo's directive as part of the government's efforts to attract investment by accelerating the downstreaming of natural resources.
He was among several ministers summoned to the palace, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Nusron Wahid, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman, and Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni.
